The Guado al Tasso estate is located in the extraordinary, prestigious Bolgheri DOC appellation enclosed between the gently rolling hillsides of the Bolgheri amphitheater and the sea, on the coastline of Upper Maremma. This appellation has a relatively recent history as it was established in 1994, but
but has gained worldwide recognition as a new reference point in the international world of wine making.
The Guado al Tasso estate’s production philosophy has always been focused on interpreting this unique territory, austere yet at the same time generous, producing wines with remarkable character, elegance and complexity. Guado al Tasso’s vineyards are planted principally to Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah, Petit Verdot and both white and red Vermentino varieties. The nearby sea provides a mild climate with constant breezes that mitigate summer heat and alleviate harsh winter weather, maintaining a clear sky and a high level of sunlight exposure.
Cont’Ugo is produced entirely with Merlot to offer a new interpretation of Bolgheri’s territory.
The vineyards grow at an altitude that varies between 45 and 60 meters (147/196 feet) above sea level on clay-loam soils, alluvial in origin, that give Cont’Ugo depth and complexity while preserving the fragrance and freshness typical of Merlot berries.

Cont’Ugo 2020 in an intense ruby red color. The nose delivers intense aromas of small ripe red fruit accompanied by fresh balsamic notes of Mediterranean scrub. On the palate, a velvety entry is sustained by excellent richness of flavors persistent throughout the tasting, closing with a pleasantly fruity finish.
