Plumbago, named after the beautiful purple flower that grows wild in the woods surrounding the Baglio and vineyards at Ulmo, is a single-variety Nero d’Avola. It is produced from the old vineyard by Lake Arancio, which now presents us with this soft and fruity version of a great Sicilian grape variety. Rounded tannins and perfectly measured maturation in wood make it a wine of immediate enjoyment, ideal for Mediterranean dishes based on vegetables and all kinds of meat.
Colour: deep red with purple tones Nose: abundant aromas of red fruit, plum and ripe blackberry typical of western Sicily’s Nero d’Avola, together with aromas of cocoa and even some Sacher torte. The wood is so well integrated it almost disappears. Palate: soft and rounded tannins are the wine’s characteristic style. A good match with popular dishes of Mediterranean and ethnic cuisine. Lasagne, grilled pork chops, grilled tuna steaks
