La Grande Dame is a tribute to the Widow Clicquot, once called “La Grande Dame de la Champagne”. This exceptional cuvée is assembled exclusively with grapes from eight Grand Crus of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and matured for a minimum of eight years before release.
The weather before the 2004 harvest was especially mild, ensuring that the grapes were perfectly ripe and healthy, with fruity and full-bodied Pinot Noir wines and elegant Chardonnays.
The nose is intensely mineral, with notes of noble fruits such as bergamot and white peaches, followed by gourmand hints of brioche, nougat and marzipan. The palate is full of body and substance. Chalky mineral notes intensify the lengthy persistence of the cuvée.
