Bio-nylon

What is Bio-Based Nylon?
Bio-based nylon is a synthetic material used in eyewear frames, part of its feedstock comes from castor plant seeds, which are processed into castor oil and used as a renewable raw material.

What makes it different from standard material?
Bio-based nylon contains at least 46% bio-based content*. This reduces reliance on fossil-based feedstock, such as petroleum, while maintaining the same quality, performance, and appearance as conventional nylon.

Recycled Nylon

What is Recycled Nylon?
Recycled nylon is produced from waste generated during the manufacturing of nylon eyewear frames. The scraps are collected, sorted, and mechanically recycled into new black granules.

What makes it different from standard material?
The recycled granules are blended with virgin nylon to create a material containing 50% recycled content**. This reduces the use of virgin fossil-based feedstock while maintaining the same quality and performance as conventional nylon.

Bio-acetate

What is Bio-Acetate?
Bio-acetate is made from cellulose acetate derived from cotton or wood pulp and a plant-based plasticizer that replaces the traditional fossil-based alternative.

What makes it different from standard material?
While standard acetate naturally contains bio-based carbon due to cellulose, bio-acetate increases the bio-based carbon content from around 61% up to 67%*, depending on the formulation. This reduces reliance on fossil-based feedstock in favor of renewable sources.

Recycled Acetate

What is Recycled Acetate?
Recycled acetate is produced through Carbon Renewal Technology, an innovative chemical recycling process that transforms plastic waste into raw material and combines it with plant-based sources to produce cellulose acetate.

What makes it different from standard material?
The resulting cellulose acetate contains 27% recycled content**. This reduces the use of virgin fossil-based feedstock by incorporating recycled sources while maintaining the material's performance and quality.
